Chuncheon Samunsa, A Healing Journey Where Tradition Meets Modernity 'I Am Going to Gangwon' Unveiled

A new form of cultural experience has begun in the tranquil mountains of Gangwon Province. The Gangwon Tourism Foundation's program 'I Am Going to Gangwon in Samunsa' at Samunsa in Chuncheon City is gaining attention in celebration of the '2025-2026 Gangwon Visit Year.'

This program is part of the 'Gangwon Vegan Life Experience Project,' which combines the unique natural environment of Gangwon Province with centuries-old temple culture, specially planned to showcase the new attractions of Gangwon to tourists while revitalizing local tourism.

The event starts at 1 PM and offers participants a rich experience. First, through a meal called 'The Exquisite Table,' participants can experience the essence of temple food and traditional dining etiquette. This is not just a meal but a time to reflect on the meaning of practice through food.

After the meal, a meditation therapy session will be held to comfort the weary minds and bodies of modern individuals, along with traditional experiences such as wish lantern making and paper flower crafting. These activities help participants escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and find inner peace.

The highlight of the day is the moonlight concert held at 7 PM. This performance, featuring the pure harmony of a children's choir, the delicate melodies of the gayageum, and the grand voices of a popera group, presents a harmonious meeting of traditional and modern art. The music, combined with the serene atmosphere of Samunsa, is expected to create unforgettable memories for visitors.

The program does not end at Samunsa. A follow-up event is scheduled at Cheongpyeongsa in Chuncheon on May 17, which includes a temple tour with a professional cultural guide and a special tea time with monks. This program, held at a historic temple with a thousand years of history, will provide a uniquely enriching experience.

Choi Seong-hyun, the CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, stated, "This program is the first of its kind in the country, a temple healing journey for vegetarian-focused tourists," and expressed his ambition to continue developing various vegetarian tourism content utilizing the nature and culture of Gangwon to become a global tourist destination sought by people worldwide.

The 'I Am Going to Gangwon' program is expected to establish itself as a new model of cultural tourism that provides healing and reflection necessary for modern individuals, organically combining nature, tradition, healing, and vegan culture into a unique tourism product exclusive to Gangwon Province.
