Meditative Performance Awakening the Senses, ‘Me and Mandala’ Landing in Seoul This May

An experimental performance that transcends the boundaries of art will be presented in Seoul. The immersive meditation performance ‘Me and Mandala’, prepared by the art experimental group Hatti Hatti Art, will welcome audiences at the And After Studio in Jungnang-gu, Seoul from May 29 to June 1.

Innovative Meeting of Meditation and Theater

‘Me and Mandala’ is an interactive performance that flips the concept of static meditation. Directed by Baek Yu-jin, this work is not just a performance to watch, but a new form of art that invites the audience to experience and participate directly.

“What we propose is not a meditation that involves sitting quietly. It is a living meditation that involves moving, touching, and weaving together.” Hatti Hatti Art emphasizes ‘experience’ rather than ‘viewing’ through this performance.

Artistic Healing for Modern Isolation

This performance, themed around the paradoxical sense of isolation in the digital age, consists of four acts. Through the journey of ‘Dizzy Mind’, ‘Isolation of Modern People’, ‘Obsession’, and ‘Filling and Emptying’, the audience will confront their inner selves.

Notably, the use of the object ‘thread’ is significant. This thread acts not merely as a prop but as a medium connecting the audience to the stage and to each other. Through this thread, the audience connects with one another and shares a collective meditation experience.

New Challenges from Verified Artistic Experimenters

Hatti Hatti Art is a talented art group that has won awards for Best Work and Best Direction at the 22nd Miryang Performing Arts Festival. Known for their experimental yet audience-friendly works such as ‘Are You Alive?’ and ‘Heppoppa’, they are now attempting a fusion of wellness and art.

This performance features eight actors, including Chae Soo-ryong, Song Ha-jun, Kim Min-guk, Jo Cheol-hoon, Yuk Seong-min, Han Soo-yeonhwa, Kwak Yoon-jin, and Hong Ji-young, promising a comprehensive sensory experience that transcends audiovisual boundaries.
