A one-of-a-kind wellness program will let people start their day at 8 a.m. by dancing to music in Bukchon.
KAHI YLESS, the flagship store of K-beauty brand KAHI, and wellness music project PROJECT120130 will host ‘Bukchon Morning Rave vol. 22’ from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at KAHI YLESS Bukchon in Seoul’s Jongno district.
Forget late-night drinking: Dance in the morning and experience a new culture
‘Bukchon Morning Rave’ is a wellness music program that transforms rave culture, traditionally associated with nighttime and drinking, into a healthy morning lifestyle. Centered on music at 120 to 130 beats per minute and dancing, it brings together K-beauty, food, coffee and social experiences in one space, proposing a ‘dancing morning’ as a new wellness routine.
Wellness has recently expanded beyond exercise and meditation to include activities such as music, dancing and community engagement that people can enjoy and sustain in everyday life. Dancing, in particular, is drawing attention as an activity that offers both physical and emotional well-being because it combines physical activity with music and interaction with others.
PROJECT120130 has also focused on this potential, presenting music content that combines rhythms of 120 to 130 beats per minute with physical movement. The project’s central aim is to make the experience of listening to favorite music, moving naturally to it and connecting with others a wellness lifestyle in its own right — without the pressure of having to work out.
For vol. 22, three artists from different musical backgrounds — house, reggae, ska and hip-hop — will fill Bukchon’s morning with music.
At 8 a.m., PROJECT120130 founder and DJ MINJI will open the morning with an upbeat house set. He will be followed by SGSY, also known as Sugar Seok-yul, the frontman and producer of leading Korean ska band Kingston Rudieska and reggae/dub band Komagens. The distinctive-voiced singjay and vinyl selecta, who has performed in both roles, will showcase music ranging from the roots of reggae and ska to contemporary sounds.
AOMG-affiliated rapper and DJ UGLY DUCK will close the event. After establishing his own distinctive character in Korea’s hip-hop scene over many years, he will deliver an energetic DJ set that moves across genres while remaining rooted in hip-hop.
The venue will also be divided into two zones so participants can experience the music in their own way. In the ‘Backstage 4-Speaker Zone,’ attendees can enjoy the sound and dancing without headphones. In the ‘Silent Disco Zone,’ they can immerse themselves in the music more privately while wearing headphones provided free of charge.
The combination of K-beauty and food is another defining feature of Bukchon Morning Rave. Participants will receive caviar mango yogurt, caviar cake, coffee and tteokbokki free of charge. They can also take part in free personal-color consultations and point-makeup demonstrations.
This edition will feature more caviar-focused content than previous events, expanding the beauty experience proposed by KAHI into music and food. Customers who purchase three or more products on the day of the event will receive 50% off all items.
Bukchon Morning Rave aims to be more than simply a ‘party held in the morning.’ It offers a new kind of wellness experience that naturally connects listening to music, dancing, eating, meeting people and taking care of oneself within a single morning.
PROJECT120130 is a wellness music project that focuses on the beats per minute of music and bodily movement to bring music and dancing into a healthier part of everyday life. Together with KAHI YLESS, it holds Bukchon Morning Rave every other Saturday, building a new morning culture that combines music, beauty, food and community.
