A distinctive wellness programme will invite people to start the day dancing to music in Bukchon at 8am.
KAHI YLESS, the flagship store of K-beauty brand KAHI, and wellness music project PROJECT120130 will host ‘Bukchon Morning Rave vol.22’ from 8am to 10.30am on Saturday 5 September at KAHI YLESS Bukchon in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Leave late-night drinking behind for morning dance sessions and a new cultural experience
‘Bukchon Morning Rave’ is a wellness music programme that transforms the traditional rave culture associated with late nights and drinking into a healthy morning lifestyle. Centred on music at 120–130 BPM and dance, it brings together K-beauty, food, coffee and social experiences in one space, proposing a ‘dancing morning’ as a new wellness routine.
Wellness has recently expanded beyond exercise and meditation to include activities such as music, dance and community that people can enjoy and sustain in everyday life. Dance, in particular, is attracting attention as an activity that offers both physical and emotional wellbeing, combining physical activity with music and interaction with others.
PROJECT120130 has also focused on this potential, presenting music content that combines rhythms of 120–130 BPM with bodily movement. Rather than feeling pressured to exercise, participants listen to music they enjoy, move naturally and connect with others, making the experience itself a wellness lifestyle. That is the project’s core aim.
At vol.22, three artists from different musical backgrounds, including house, reggae, ska and hip-hop, will fill Bukchon’s morning with music.
At 8am, PROJECT120130 founder DJ MINJI will open the morning with an energetic house-led set. He will be followed by SGSY (Sugar Seok-yul), frontman and producer of leading South Korean ska band Kingston Rudieska and reggae/dub band Komagens. A distinctive-voiced singjay and vinyl selecta, he will showcase a broad range of sounds, from the roots of reggae and ska to contemporary styles.
The final set will come from AOMG rapper and DJ UGLY DUCK. Having built his own distinctive character in South Korea’s hip-hop scene over many years, he will deliver an energetic DJ set that moves across genres while remaining rooted in hip-hop.
The venue will also be divided into two zones so participants can experience the music in their own way. In the ‘Backstage 4-Speaker Zone’, they can enjoy the venue’s sound and dance without headphones. In the ‘Silent Disco Zone’, they can immerse themselves in the music more privately using headphones provided free of charge.
The combination of K-beauty and food is another key feature of Bukchon Morning Rave. Participants will receive caviar mango yoghurt, caviar cake, coffee and tteokbokki free of charge, and can also enjoy complimentary personal-colour and point-make-up demonstrations.
For this edition in particular, the organisers have prepared a richer range of caviar-focused content than before, extending the beauty experience proposed by KAHI to music and food. Customers who buy three or more products on the day will also receive a 50% discount on all items.
Bukchon Morning Rave aims to be more than simply a ‘party held in the morning’. It offers a new form of wellness experience that naturally connects listening to music, dancing, eating, meeting people and looking after oneself within a single morning.
PROJECT120130 is a wellness music project that focuses on music BPM and bodily movement to extend music and dance into a healthier part of everyday life. Together with KAHI YLESS, it holds Bukchon Morning Rave every other Saturday, creating a new morning culture that combines music, beauty, food and community.
