Sail by Yacht, Send Wishes Adrift at Sunset: BOMA Festival Opens Nov. 7 on Busan’s Coast

A festival will bring people together to sail off Yeongdo’s coast, send wishes adrift at sunset on Achi Beach, and meditate through voice and movement with healers from around the world. The third Busan Global Ocean Healing & Meditation Art Festival, BOMA Festival, will take place Nov. 7 and 8 at the gymnasium and main auditorium of the Industry-Academia Hub Building at Korea Maritime & Ocean University, as well as Achi Beach.

Launched two years ago, the BOMA Festival is being held for the third time this year as an ocean healing and meditation festival. This year’s theme is “AI Era, Feel Human Again.” The festival promises two days to rest, learn and find healing by the sea.

Third year with the Marine Healing Research Center: From a sea of work to a sea of rest

BOMA stands for Busan International Ocean Meditation & Art Festival. The festival has been held with the Marine Healing Research Center at Korea Maritime & Ocean University, with the goal of creating a healing platform for local and global exchange through the sea and meditation. This year’s organizers are the BOMA Festival Organizing Committee, Korea Ocean Meditation and Wellness Association, Blue Mind Korea, Magenta for You, Korea Tarot Association and the Marine Healing Research Center at Korea Maritime & Ocean University.

Last year’s second festival was held on Oct. 25 and 26 on the same campus. The first day featured ocean healing experience booths, yacht and motorboat rides, and a healing concert. The second day included ocean Hatha yoga, ocean insight meditation, a tea ceremony and mindfulness meditation, Ocean Flow movement meditation, and sound harmony meditation.

Korea Maritime & Ocean University President Dong Keun Ryoo said, “The sea of Busan, Korea’s maritime capital, is a sea where people work, but it is also a sea that lets us rest.” He added, “I hope this will be a time to catch our breath by the sea and look at one another again.”
