The moment I stand on the board, I realize it’s not the river that’s shaking—I’m the one shaking. By pushing through that wobble, my body and mind gradually grow stronger.
If you say you’re doing yoga on a river with no waves, it sounds strange at first. But when people actually encounter that scene at Ttukseom Hangang, they all stop in their tracks. In the heart of Seoul, multiple boards gather on calm water, and on top of them, people lift their legs or take deep breaths. This is SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) fitness—quietly drawing attention in the recent Greater Seoul wellness scene.
What is SUP Fitness? A complete workout created by instability on the water
SUP fitness is a water-wellness program that combines yoga, Pilates, and core training on a paddleboard that’s wider and more stable than a surfboard. You can join even if you can’t swim at all, and since you wear a life jacket, the safety barrier to entry is low.
Because it’s on the water, even a force much smaller than on land can cause wobbling. As you respond to that wobble, small muscles in your body—so-called “stabilizer muscles”—are naturally activated. That’s why the amount of core muscle involvement is significantly higher than when doing the same moves in an indoor yoga studio. Add the wind on the river, the sparkle of the water’s surface, and sounds that seem to tickle your ears, and the experience becomes something close to meditation while still being exercise.
SUP Fitness Class at Ttukseom Hangang Park
On Children’s Day, May 5, 2026, a SUP fitness class will be held at Ttukseom Hangang Park. Led by water-wellness expert Park Miran, this class runs with a small group of eight people per time slot, with sessions at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Choosing Children’s Day is intentional in its own way. Park Miran says, “On a day like Children’s Day when the whole family comes to Hangang, I wanted to create an experience that helps people get closer to the water in a new way.” The idea is that adults who come to the river with their families can have their own time on the water while kids run around.
A special event planned by Park Miran, a wellness expert whose skills have been proven
Park Miran isn’t just an instructor with a yoga certification. She’s a wellness expert whose skills have been verified through guest programs for major domestic companies such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Mobis, and Maeil Dairies. Since she has operated programs for corporate employees for a long time, she’s used to safely guiding participants with a wide range of physical conditions and exercise backgrounds.
This class is an event she planned with the wish to “open up the water-wellness culture to more people.” In the same spirit, she’s offering the premium class—normally priced around 70,000 won—for the first event at a special price of 20,000 won.

Collaboration with Juttywind Surfing Club, a 33-year-old tradition, and life jacket brand SUMSS
Even if SUP fitness is considered safe, for people trying it for the first time, the very fact that it’s “on the water” can also create psychological pressure. This class has a solid safety net to reduce that burden.
The Juttywind Surfing Club where the event takes place is a domestic water sports facility specializing in water sports, with 33 years of operating history, and has served as the base camp for activities on the waters of Ttukseom Hangang. The life jackets are supported by the domestic water sports safety equipment brand SUMSS. In other words, it means the environment is already in place so you can participate without worrying even if you can’t swim.
For some of the class participants, a surprise raffle event is also prepared to give away premium beach towels from the SUMSS brand.
An era where Hangang becomes a wellness space
In recent years, Hangang has gone beyond being just a place to rest—it has become a stage for a wide range of wellness activities, from running crews to yoga classes and meditation gatherings. SUP fitness is one of the most naturally compatible and immersive options in that trend.
Finding balance on the river isn’t just about exercise—it carries more meaning than that. Once you start looking for your center of balance on a wobbling board, at some point the noise in your head also quiets down. Nature in the middle of the city—Hangang—makes that experience even more special.
