O2hill to Launch ‘Active Meditation Instructor Level 2 Course’ in Jeju in August

Mysticism stripped away, raising guides... O2hill to Launch ‘Active Meditation Instructor Level 2 Course’ in Jeju in August

People who have practiced meditation for a long time reach a point where they pause at least once. And when they want to pass along the experience that made them feel at ease to someone nearby, they strangely find themselves unable to speak. They lack the language to explain what has unfolded inside them, and they also lack the ability to read what is happening in the person sitting in front of them. There is a river as deep between practicing meditation alone and guiding meditation for others.

The ‘Active Meditation Instructor Level 2 Course’ that O2hill will hold in Jeju from August 7 to 9 is designed for those trying to cross that river. The program runs as a three-day, two-night in-person intensive, followed by 10 online Zoom sessions to build practical skills after completion.

Placing neuroscience where mysticism once stood

O2hill’s top principle in spreading active meditation is to thoroughly exclude mysticism and any non-scientific instruction, according to the company. The company says all courses are built on neuroscience and human-body studies, and participants are trained to guide others after clearly understanding the mechanisms at work in the body and brain.

That principle lines up with the path taken by La Hyeong-hyung, the O2hill CEO who created the program. The CEO said he learned a lot from Osho, a globally known meditation teacher, but he decided that the methods shaped by India’s cultural background from about 30 years ago could not simply be transferred to today’s Korean setting. He viewed difficult Buddhist terms and obscure Sanskrit, as well as vague concepts like chakras and words such as ‘baekho,’ as barriers blocking modern people’s access.

He delved into neuroscience, exercise science, and positive psychology on his own, and developed 28 independent active meditation movements optimized for modern people. He rewrote hard-to-understand terminology using Korean that a first-year middle school student could grasp, along with explanations of the underlying principles. The idea began from a standard that anyone—whether Christian, Buddhist, or nonreligious—should be able to see benefits regardless of religion.

Teaching ‘core six’ among 28 movements

This level 2 course does not simply list all 28 movements. O2hill said it has selected six core meditation processes—those with high healing effects and strong preference at the site—and teaches them. The program focuses on fully making the tools your own rather than just skimming across validated methods.

For learners, the choice is fairly practical. Someone who has taught meditation can probably tell that, in real-world settings, a guide who has fully absorbed six techniques through their body lasts far longer than a guide who only half-understands 28.

Before guiding others, the time when guides first pass through

The program’s center of gravity lies not in acquiring skills, but in the guide’s own change. The premise is that before healing others, a guide’s mind must first be purified and healed. O2hill said the two-night, three-day mind-development retreat in the natural surroundings of Jeju will become a wellspring of inspiration and insight in the many moments ahead of the guide’s path.

La said it has repeatedly shared the changes it witnessed while directly operating the program over the past six years. Those include cases such as a businessman who had been taking antidepressant medication every day, and then stopped after experiencing insight during the course; and cases such as a company that was facing a crisis of insolvency and then rose again. However, such changes need to be received as based on participants’ individual experiences and the operating team’s observations, and they should be distinguished from clinically validated therapeutic effects.

Demand expanding to training centers, schools, and local governments

O2hill said demand for active meditation is rapidly increasing in public institutions and businesses such as training centers, schools, local governments, and regional centers. As background for this course, the company cited the fact that two directions open up together for those who earn certification: realizing social value and securing sustainable income.

There are also indicators supporting this trend. According to O2hill, its active meditation program received a satisfaction score of 98.93 in a training session for teachers affiliated with the Jeju Provincial Office of Education in 2025. O2hill registered the certification course in January 2023 alongside the development of active meditation audio tracks. It currently runs the program in stages—Level 3 and Level 2, as well as Level 3 for teachers. Cumulative participants who have gone through La’s sessions have surpassed 6,000, including a few hundred CEOs.

After spending his youth on labor movement sites in his 20s, La went on to found a financial planning company and achieved success. About six years ago, he handed the business to younger colleagues and established O2hill. Through his book 『The Inner Revolution That Calls Success』, he has conveyed the message that a leader’s level of consciousness determines the organization’s fate. The line he repeats in each program is short: Life is a festival.
