A perspective that views happiness not as something you “get,” but something you “create,” comes into focus through neuroscience. The “Brain Meditation Concert”, hosted by the Gyeongbuk Gukhak Institute and the Pohang Gukhak Institute, will be held at the Pohang Culture & Arts Center in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, April 9.
The event’s slogan is “Happiness, designed with neuroscience.” Beyond a simple lecture, it’s made up of an interactive program where participants can directly experience science-based meditation methods rooted in neuroscience. It is designed so that even citizens who are unfamiliar with meditation can begin without hesitation. The event is sponsored by the Brain Training Center and BR Brain Education.
Main Lecture — “Neuroscience-Based Meditation Methods for Creating Happiness”
The core program of this concert is a talk by Professor No Hyeong-ju. Professor No is a neuroscience-based meditation expert who serves as a standing executive director at the Brain Trainer Association and also works as an adjunct professor at Global Cyber University, as well as a JA-I professor at Changwon National University.
The lecture begins with the question, “Why aren’t modern people happy even though they have enough?” From a neuroscience perspective, Professor No redefines the essence of happiness and introduces specific meditation experience methods that anyone can practice in everyday life. In particular, the concert will shine a new light on Pohang’s natural environment and cultural characteristics as valuable assets for a meditation-friendly city, leading citizens toward pride and healing together.
Pre-Experience Booth — Open in the Lobby from 6:00 PM
Before the lecture starts, a free healing experience booth will be available in the event venue lobby starting at 6:00 PM. Participants can try the experiences freely before and after the lecture, and the main programs are as follows.
Aroma Healing — An experience that helps relax mind and body tension through scent, letting you experience nature-based healing methods through your sense of smell.
Aura Energy Color Photo — A photo experience that visualizes an individual’s energy state through color. You can intuitively check your current physical and emotional condition.
Thermal Experience — A warming program designed to help promote immunity by raising body temperature, supporting blood circulation and the recovery of natural self-healing ability.
Jami Dosu Counseling — A counseling session that goes beyond simple fortune-telling by analyzing inner tendencies and the flow of life, offering time to deepen self-understanding.
On-Site Benefits — Complimentary K-Meditation Experience Coupon
A lucky draw will be held for attendees at the venue. Winners will receive a K-meditation experience coupon worth 100,000 won, helping them continue meditation in daily life even after the event.
A Meeting of Neuroscience and Meditation — What Is Brain Training?
Brain training, the theoretical foundation of this event, is a meditation-based training method that organically integrates the body (Body), mind (Mind), and brain (Brain). It combines breathing, brain exercises, and meditation step by step to enhance the brain’s self-regulation ability, with goals of alleviating stress and improving focus. Modern neuroscience has been steadily accumulating research results showing that consistent meditation training increases the thickness of the prefrontal cortex and reduces excessive activity in the amygdala, thereby improving emotion regulation abilities.
This concert, held in Pohang, a city aiming for “a happiness city,” was planned to lower the barrier to meditation using the scientific language of neuroscience and to create an opportunity for more citizens to start meditating in their everyday lives. The Pohang Gukhak Institute said they hope the event will not be limited to a one-time lecture, but will lead to practical health management for citizens.
