Vibrations and breathing settling into the Hangang—The 5-week recovery journey of the 2026 Hangang Wellness Week

A five-week, 5H-themed series running at the Mulbit Stage in Yeouido Hangang Park from May 3 to June 14. Starting with Week 1 Hangang healing yoga, then Week 3 singing bowl meditation 'Stillness, Breath,' and even a Week 5 somatic program for a posture awareness reset—participants will follow the flow of each week, one step at a time.

A five-week comma of rest in the middle of downtown—Yeouido Mulbit Stage

The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Hangang Headquarters will hold '2026 Hangang Wellness Week' centered on the Mulbit Stage at Yeouido Hangang Park for a total of five weeks from Sunday, May 3, 2026, to Sunday, June 14, 2026, under the theme 'Today's Hangang, Tomorrow's Health.' Each weekend for five weeks, including special operations on Children's Day May 5, the event runs for 10 days in total, and will help attendees build healthy daily habits through a variety of hands-on experiences, performances, and educational programs.

This year's events are designed around five 'H' themes: Habits, Happy, Healthy, Healing, and Harmony. What stands out is that whether someone is strolling along the riverside or a tourist visiting Hangang for the first time, the program is designed so everyone can follow the rhythm of the week at their own pace.

Pre-event May 2 (Saturday), at Gwangnaru Hangang Park—Wake your body up

On the day before the main event, May 2 (Saturday), a pre-program called the 'Gwangnaru Hangang Wellness Program' opens first. A set of four physical activity programs—yoga, K-POP dance, step boxes, and trampoline activities—will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Professional instructors guide participants step by step, so even those starting to exercise for the first time can follow along without pressure.

Week 1 Habits—Small habits starting at Hangang

The first week is filled by May 3 (Sunday) and May 5 (Tuesday), which is Children's Day. 'Habit' in Week 1 focuses on small habits, with music-healing and nutrition-status check programs running on an ongoing basis. On the first day at 2:30 p.m., 'Noise-Canceling Hangang Healing Yoga'—which blocks out the noise of the city—will center on relaxation movements that release tension in the pelvis and lower body. It's a 30-minute session where you open up your body while receiving the breeze from the Hangang directly on your skin.

Then at 4:30 p.m., a guest performance by singer Ha Ha, followed by a youth dance and vocal contest filling the Hangang stage starting at 5:00 p.m. On Children's Day, a Kids Active Play Zone, a group jump-rope challenge, and a jumping trampoline are prepared for family visitors. Music therapy experience, Happy Nutrition checkups, color-therapy art therapy, and healing aroma therapy run continuously on both days.

Week 2 Happy—A shift in senses and physical balance

On May 9 (Saturday), a variety of content centered on citizen participation will be held as an open class where people can take part directly. A hula workshop promoting 'A dance that brings out the sea within me' and personal color diagnosis will take place in sequence, and that evening, a performance by jazz vocalist Kwon Hye-ri will be staged along the riverside.

The next day, May 10 (Sunday), a partner yoga session matching breath together and a swing dance performance are planned. Starting at 5:00 p.m., for two hours, a 'Silent Club—Silent DJ Party,' enjoyed with headphones on, will be layered over the night view of the Hangang. This format, where you dance together without sound leaking out to the surroundings, is considered one of the most new experiments in this event.

Week 3 Healthy—Deep rest you can feel through singing bowl meditation 'Stillness, Breath'

At 2:00 p.m. on May 30 (Saturday), the quietest moment of this wellness week begins. Singing bowl meditation 'Stillness, Breath' is a program that stabilizes brainwaves through the vibrations created by singing bowls and guides participants into the Theta wave region—an area associated with deep relaxation.

The planning team describes this time as: 'A process of inputting clear external sound data into my body, then bringing back the peaceful data that had been sleeping within me.' During the hour in which the breeze gliding over the river and the sound of metallic bell chimes overlap, participants will encounter the sensation of their own breathing flowing at a speed similar to the river.

On the same day, in the tea therapy 'Healthy Tea Relax Room,' free tea tastings of health teas continue, and at 4:00 p.m., a pull-up challenge with 410,000- subscriber workout YouTuber Barbellator Rissam raises the atmosphere. In the evening, hip-hop artist Ezzana Ezzana takes the stage.

On May 31 (Sunday), a group short-running experience for beginners and a communication-style performance by beat maker Heddy called 'Oun-eum' will fill the stage. Also featured is the 'Wellness Sound Concert (Butterfly)'—an immersive session that weaves together improvised voice and the sounds of nature to guide participants into deep relaxation.

Week 4 Healing—Rest for the mind that empties fatigue

On June 6 (Saturday), the day opens with mat Pilates at midday. The one-hour program held amid the open views of the Hangang gently loosens the core and tension around the pelvis that usually feels tight. In the afternoon, hand therapy by professional therapists and a healing DJ follow, and in the evening, the jazz sound healing of Cha Yu-bin Quintet envelops the nights of the Hangang—from the intensity of Hard Bop to standards like 'Fly Me to the Moon.'

On June 7 (Sunday), an indie band called 'So, Green' performs with calm piano and vocals, and a healing string performance by artist Kang Eui-chae, a Berklee alum, leaves a warm lingering feeling.

Week 5 Harmony—Wrap up with a posture-awareness reset somatic program

In the final week of Wellness Week, the focus is on harmony among plants, companion dogs, and your relationship with your own body. On Saturday, June 13, 'Wellness Plant One-Day Class' will be held, where participants thread beads one by one, and dog yoga will take place as well—pairing breathwork with companion dogs. In the evening, an acapella choral performance by La Vita will fill the riverside with harmonious vocals from four singers.

On the last day of the event, Sunday, June 14, starting at 1:00 p.m., a 'Posture Awareness Reset Program' will be held. Designed based on Somatic principles, this experience is not an exercise that corrects postures visible from the outside, but an approach that teaches movement again through the body's internal sensations.

A time is prepared for you to consciously notice tension in your shoulders, lower back, and pelvis that has been locked up for a long time—then reduce unnecessary effort to restore lighter, more efficient movement. It's interesting that it's not described as 'correcting' posture, but as 'awareness.' Before fixing an incorrect posture, it’s closer to the act of looking closely at how I'm using my body for the first time.

The finale is decorated with a special A-Hope performance featuring actors Yang Kyung-won, singer Jin Min-ho, musical actors Park Seul-gi, Yoo Hyu-jin, and Cheon Eun-seong, along with a six-member band.

Park Jin-young, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Hangang Headquarters, said, 'I hope that small wellness habits that start at the Hangang expand into citizens' everyday lives,' adding, 'We carefully prepared the programs so each generation—from children and parents to young people and middle-aged and older adults—can participate at their own pace.' The message shared the event's intent.
